COMMISSIONER BRUCE B. HOLMES’ VISION
Henry County’s future can be very bright. However, if we’re going to compete with the world, we have to elect educated competent people at every level of government who can think strategic and comprehensively about the future.
Elected leadership should be preparing Henry County now for industries of tomorrow. The Innovation Agenda is America’s future. We have to provide targeted industries the right business environment and climate for success. Future careers will be in the areas of 3D Printing, Immunotherapy, Robotics, Artificial intelligence and Big data analytics.
WE HAVE TO QUICKLY TRANSITION AWAY FROM THE WAREHOUSES. THEY ARE A FINANCIAL BURDEN ON OUR ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE AND DONT CONTRIBUTE MUCH TO OUR COMMERCIAL TAX BASE.
Road infrastructure improvements, quality of life improvements, intellectual capital development and public safety is the progressive focus. 2018 is our year so let’s get ready for the transition! FORWARD!!
Create more quality of life opportunities for citizens by developing a countywide trail system and improving transportation options for citizens.
AREAS OF FOCUS
Henry County Conference & Convention Center
I believe it’s time for Henry County to build its’ own conference and convention center along I-75 to take advantage of the lack of convention space and to take advantage of the tourism opportunities in the region.
Stockbridge Downtown Area
I would also like to work towards developing a new downtown area in the City of Stockbridge along North Henry Blvd and Rock Quarry Road with curbside cafe’s and retail establishments.
Intellectual Capital Investment:
Lastly, it’s time for Henry County to cultivate its own talent by developing our own intellectual capital here at home. We should either create our own university or invest to bring and extension campus so we don’t lose our best and brightest to Buckhead or other areas in North Atlanta.
